Women Who Tell Our Stories

Panel & Mixer Presented by Black Girls In Media

International Women’s Day this year was quite the treat as I joined Black Girls In Media (BGIM) for “Women Who Tell Our Stories”, a panel and mixer at The Gathering Spot Los Angeles. Led by HBO Strategist and BGIM Founder Tasha McCaskiel along with TV & Documentary Director Diamonde, Writer and On-Air Personality Sylvia Obell, and Host & Publicist Tallie Spencer.

About 50-60 women gathered for an evening of networking, connection and conversation including Non-Scripted TV Executive Dunia Rodriguez, Beauty Reporter and Author Darian Symone Harvin, Head of Publicity at EMPIRE Bria Fisher, Affirmation Artist Toni Jones, Producer & Director Maura Chanz, Model Nina Rodriguez among others.

Those emotions: stress, anger, sadness. I think its important to feel those things and to learn how to tolerate them. There’s strength in that.

We each walked to the stage with a women’s theme song to kick start an enlightening conversation. In honor of International Women’s Day we started with “What does being a woman mean to you? and what led us into careers in media.

Tasha payed homage to Karleen Roy and dug into the Grit and Glam stories of the panelists in hopes to inspire our creative audience and gain real insight while giving us our flowers. 💐 Laughs were shared, gems were dropped, tears were cried, and God’s word showed up.

Seeing Black women being celebrated is one of my favorite genres and I appreciate being in these spaces.
